It’s the start of a new year, which means the same old promises that we’re going to get in shape, start eating healthier and drink less alcohol.
Of course, one of the other big health kicks people try to get on in a new year is giving up smoking, but rather than giving up totally, why not consider switching to vaping?
Here are three reasons to make 2018 the year you put down the cigs and pick up a vape pen.
Of course, the most important thing about vaping is that it’s much healthier than smoking normal cigarettes.
Everybody knows how bad smoking is for you, causing around 90% of lung cancers, as well as damaging many other organs and parts of the body.
But are e-cigarettes better for you? The simple answer is ‘yes’! That’s because e-cigarettes don’t contain tar or carbon monoxide, which are two of the most harmful parts of tobacco smoke.
And because the juice is heated instead of being burnt, no actual smoke is created, which is much safer.
E-cigarettes are still relatively new, with new research always being carried out, and while we can’t say for certain that e-cigarettes are totally risk-free, we can definitely say that they’re much better for you than the alternative.
The government are always looking to make smoking less appealing, whether it’s the bland packaging or the graphic images and messages that come alongside cigarettes.
New laws have recently been introduced to make smoking even more expensive, with the cheapest packet coming in at around £9 since their introduction.
With the government always taking measures to make smoking less and less affordable, it’s become a more expensive habit than ever to keep up.
On the other hand, vaping has maintained a fairly steady price, making it a far more affordable lifestyle choice.
Once you’ve bought your e-cigarette, all you’ll need to buy are refills for your e-liquid and the odd replacement clearomiser or battery.

Safer for Others/More Socially Accepted
One of the worst things about smoking isn’t just the damage that it does to you, but that it does to those around you through second-hand smoke.
This means that if you’re a smoker, much of your time is spent out in the smoking area, or nipping out of the house to smoke.
However, because e-cigarettes don’t produce smoke, there’s no danger of second-hand smoke, so they’re much more socially accepted in public places.
Of course, some places do still impose their own rules on whether they allow them or not, e-cigarettes are still far more socially accepted than cigarettes!
As long as you use your common sense and don’t go blowing vapour in people’s faces, people are much more understanding or e-cigarettes, especially as more and more people learn about them.
There’s even a whole community around vaping itself, with whole competitions dedicated to vaping!
