There is a perception that the higher the income bracket is, the more healthy one is. This is not true. In developed countries, the majority of people live with poor health and that seems to be because they have not learnt to embrace health. In developing countries, health education is not commonly provided nor taught in schools. Most people learn to adopt good health practices from their parents.

Medicine as a medical practice has developed over the years. Initially there was no great effort to develop medicines. People were not yet aware of the concepts of health and illness. Knowledge in medicine was considered to be the property of the upper classes. It was only with the coming of revolution in western and northern parts of the globe that medicine began to be of public interest.
